Cook Time 20 minutes
Refrigerate/Marinate 9 hours
Total Time 9 hours 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 tbsp savory, dried
  • 1 tbsp sage, dried
  • 1.5 tbsp thyme, dried
  • 1.25 tbsp ground rosemary
  • 1 gallon ice water

Instructions

  • BOIL & COOL: Stir together broth, salt, savory, thyme, thyme, rosemary, and sage to a large pot over high heat. Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat, pour it in a large container/bowl, put it in the refrigerator to cool down for 30-minutes (or let it cool on the stove for an hour – until at room temperature).
1 gallon chicken broth, 1/2 cup salt, 1 tbsp savory, dried, 1 tbsp sage, dried, 1.5 tbsp thyme, dried, 1.25 tbsp ground rosemary
  • MARINATE: Once cooled completely (should be to room temperature), pour it back into a large pot and mix the broth with the ice water. (At this point if you plan to marinate your turkey in a bag, bust it out!) Then place your turkey breast-side down (innards already removed) into the brine. Fill the cavity with brine, and refrigerate for a minimum of 8-hours.
    1 gallon ice water
  • PREP & COOK: When you're ready to cook your turkey, remove it from the brine, ensure the cavity is totally drained, and pat excess brine dry from the turkey. Discard remaining brine and cook turkey as desired! Enjoy!
(NOTE: Brined turkeys cook about 25-30 minutes faster).
